In
1972, due to the tremendous interest shown in Helen Bradley's work following
the publication of her first book "And Miss Carter Wore Pink"
by Jonathan Cape. Helen Bradley decided to allow her work to be reproduced
as signed limited edition prints, on the strict understanding that they
were to be published to the standards set by The Fine Art Trade Guild,
London.
During
that year "The Picnic", "The Snowman" and "Hollinwood
Market" were published, all three editions selling very quickly causing
quite a stir in the market place. These were followed at regular intervals
during the following seven years according to Helen Bradley's wishes.
When
Helen Bradley died in July 1979 her publisher's Helen Bradley Prints Ltd/Miss
Carter Publications were
holding eight unpublished signed limited editions. These were published
during the following three years according to the rules of The Fine Art
Guild.
Helen
Bradley's limited editions have always found favour with collectors and
are still sought after on the secondary market.
Between
1972 and 1981 a total of 30 signed limited editions were published each
one bearing The Fine Art Trade Guild's unique embossed stamp of limitation.
